The Warragul Cycling Club are delighted to announce that the Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort will again be naming rights sponsors of the regions iconic Baw Baw Classic.

The resort hosts the finish of the gruelling 103 kilometre event, which forms part of the Cycling Victoria TAC Victorian Road Series, and also doubles as the Victorian Hill Climbing Championships.

Resort General Manager John Fascio was excited to partner with the event again in 2017.

“Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is once again proud to sponsor the 17th Annual Baw Baw Classic.

“This race is known as one of the toughest one day races in Australia, and we know why, the road to Baw Baw certainly is a challenge.

“To be involved with such an iconic race that meanders through our beautiful region and attracts hundreds of top end athletes to the top of our beautiful mountain is fantastic.”

This year’s race will see riders follow a similar course to previous years. Beginning at the Warragul Arts Centre, the race takes riders through the rolling hills of Gippsland before the final 13% gradient climb up the Mount Baw Baw Tourist Road before finishing at the Mount Baw Baw Village.

Voyage Fitness will again sponsor the elite women’s race and also give the first Gippsland rider across the line in each category a prize pack.

Wakefield Vogrig and Blackwood Garden Supplies are again naming rights sponsors for the women’s B Grade and women’s C Grade events respectively. In the Masters B Grade event, Warragul’s Frankies Café will again support race while Gary Blackwood MLA are naming rights sponsors for the men’s Masters C Grade.

Ballarat’s Rhys Gillett won the 2016 elite men’s race while Justine Barrow won the women’s race for the second time.
