A great success for WM3 Pro Cycling. Riejanne Markus won on Saturday in Zeeland the EPZ Omloop van Borsele. She outsprinted Eugenia Bujak in ‘s-Heerenhoek. Marianne Vos completed the WM3-success by sprinting to the third place.
Starting with 4 riders, DS Eric van den Boom experienced a strong WM3 Pro Cycling squad. “We knew upfront that the wind would be an important factor. In both the long and the short lap, there were opportunities to break away which happened several times. We were focused and attentive from the start of the race”, says the DS.
Yara Kastelijn had bad luck and had to come back from the background. She made her way to the first group as Riejanne Markus solo attacked for the first time. In the second to last lap, when the bunch was back together, the race exploded again. The peloton split and Riejanne got away with Eugenia Bujak in pursuit.
“We know Bujak as an explosive rider with a good sprint. For those reasons, Riejanne was cautious with her energy in the final kilometers. Of course, we still had a strong Marianne Vos in the chasing group who would have been able to finish the job”, says Eric van den Boom. Riejanne was eventually the fastest. “This is a nice encouragement for WM3 Pro Cycling.”
