Arnaud Démare and his teammates made a very strong impression in the final of the second stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné before the FDJ Sprinter took a commanding 4 bike length victory with the Norwegian Alexander Kristoff (Katusha-Alpecin) and Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis) rounding out the podium.

Demare said following his victory,

“I’m very happy to have won ,” he said.

“I had a hard time 70 kilometers from the finish, on the climbs. Afterwards, I had hard legs but I was not the only one, the sprinters also had tired legs.

“This morning, at breakfast, I said that this arrival suited me but I had to pass the difficulties to have a chance to compete the sprint. I did it with my crew and this is a sign that we have worked well during our internship in Corsica. “
