Stage 3: Glenelg to Victor Harbour – 146.5km

So if you’ve followed the previews, you will see that I have been spot on.

Greipel on stage 1, Impey top 3 Stage 2 as well as a couple of head to heads.

Stage 3 it’s going to be a sprinters stage in coastal town Victor Harbour. The stage is shortened 26 odd km due to the heat, but that won’t stop the sprinters teams from setting up the sprint – if anything, it will help it.

Caleb Ewan is the favourite after today’s stage victory. He finally got his victory after Sagan and Greipel have beaten him this week already. His confidence will be back. But how much of today’s effort will hurt him for tomorrow?

Andre Greipel is another favourite for the stage. He’s shown how strong he is already. He had an easier day today so he should be fresher tomorrow.

Peter Sagan only sprinted on stage 1 because Sam Bennett had an untimely puncture. Expect Sam Bennett to be their guy today providing his bike stays together. They will be leading him out and he could be the freshest of the lot to get the win.

Elia Viviani has been adjusting to his new team and they are starting to get things going. He looked fine today. His lead-out is still an issue, however, but if they get things right, he’s right in this.

Sunweb will be riding for Phil Bauhaus again. The German showed good speed on Tuesday and will look to get on the podium tomorrow. He had an easier day today.

With the hot weather booming, fatigue may start to creep in. The sprinters who are fresher could shine tomorrow.

As for me, I’m waiting for the odds to come out and when they do there is one guy I will be backing.
