Today Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank announced the addition of new talent Brodie Chapman (AUS) to the 2018 roster, who recently rode solo to victory at the Women’s Herald Sun Tour.
“We are incredibly thrilled to announce the addition of Brodie Chapman to our roster,” said Linda Jackson, Founder of Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank. “Brodie rode to an incredible win at the Herald Sun Tour. That ride was incredibly gutsy and shows the kind of drive and determination that are critical to being a successful athlete. We are looking forward to helping her continue to develop her talent, and providing opportunities to race at the highest level.”
“I am super stoked to join Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank,” said Chapman. “To be given the opportunity to race amongst the best, together with such talented women is going to make for an exciting year.”
Before the Women’s Herald Sun Tour, Chapman had only once competed in a UCI-ranked road race and had focused mostly on racing off-road. Locally, Chapman is known as a strong rider and has won numerous races on road and dirt. But she caught international attention when she finished sixth at the 2018 Australian Road National Championships in January, and again when she broke away from the field on the climb at the Women’s Herald Sun Tour. With the current world champion and other internationally-recognized riders in hot pursuit, Chapman leveraged her descending skills and raw power to stay away to the finish, winning the stage and the overall classification of the UCI 2.2 event.
“I was so impressed with how Brodie performed at the Women’s Herald Sun Tour, and I’m really happy that we had the availability to bring her on our team this year,” said Ed Beamon, Team Manager and Sports Director for Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank. “Brodie will be a tremendous asset to the team, especially as we continue to expand our World Tour presence in Europe.”
Team TIBCO-Silicon Valley Bank recently revealed an extension to their long-standing European racing calendar beyond previous years to provide opportunity for athletes to achieve their Olympic aspirations. Upcoming races include Ronde van Drenthe, Trofeo Alfredo Binda and Ronde Van Vlaanderen, (all world tour races) among others.
