Mitchelton-SCOTT started as they meant to go on, taking confidence from winning the Hammer Climb and Hammer Sprint they added the Hammer Chase to their wins today, to secure the overallHammer Stavanger victory.

The team’s nearest chasers, Team Sunweb, started 30seconds behind in today’s team time trial chase event, but they were unable to draw back any time as the five-man Australian team pulled away already in the first lap increasing the advantage to over one minute.

Third place starters, Team Sky, had an unfortunate crash after one lap which hampered their chances of clawing any time back.

The Mitchelton-SCOTT train continue to increase their lead, kilometre after kilometre, to finish the 49kilometre event in a time of 53minutes and 47seconds, a full 59seconds over BMC and one minute 13seconds over Trek-Segafredo.

Their determination and great teamwork throughout the three-day race saw the team dominate each day to take a convincing overall victory.

Daryl Impey

We saw today everybody did their role and really gave 100%, guys did turns that they could manage and it was a real team effort today.

“Throughout the whole series we have been in every move even though we have been tired and here the moral has been really good each day.”

Damien Howson

“I have ridden a few team time trials and today to only have five starters on such a long course really made for a difficult day out.

“It is crucial everyone gives their best and keeps it smooth and that is how we executed it today. We were really consistent, we did three laps and pretty much every lap each rider did the exact same sections and the same speed each lap.

“This is my first Hammer Series, it is a really short intense event, and a team time trial no matter what the distance it is always hard and today was a really good day, on a beautiful sunny day and good course in Norway it was special.”

Cameron Meyer

“That was awesome and was probably one of the best rides I have been a part of, we rode it so smoothly and we got told we were up on the other teams quite early so we knew we were on a good run and it has been a really successful few days.

“We wanted to finish with a bang so kept riding all the way to the finish even though we had a large advantage, there’s a lot of team time trials coming this year so this is another dress rehearsal.”
