Team Katusha – Alpecin has named a squad that will half support Ilnur Zakarin and half support Marcel Kittel in the Tour de France.

Having only three wins this season, Katusha need to find something next month and strike victory in the biggest race of the year.

Supporting Ilnur Zakarin are Ian Boswell, Robert Kiserlovski and Pavel Kochetkov. Zakarin has finished in the top 5 in his last two Grand Tour attempts – 5th at last year’s Giro d’Italia followed by 3rd at last year’s Vuelta.

Supporting Marcel Kittel are his countrymen Rick Zabel, Tony Martin and Nils Pollitt. Kittel took five stage wins in last year’s Tour but is unlikely to repeat the feat. Since moving to Katusha, he has only won two races and finished on the podium on two other occasions and without a full team to support him, will find it harder to get in position to win. Kittel’s supporting riders will also be valuable for Zakarin in the time trial as well as on the cobblestones on stage nine.
