Jakob Fuglsang has a strong squad around him as he attempts to win the Tour de France next month. The 33 year old was 7th in 2013 and came in last year as a dark horse after winning the Criterium Du Dauphine, but a crash which caused two fractures to his left arm forced him to abandon the race.

In the mountains he will be supported primarily by Spaniard’s Luis Leon Sanchez and Omar Fraile and countryman, Jesper Hansen.

Estonia’s Tanel Kangert and Kazakhstan’s Dmitry Gruzdev also make for a strong Team Time Trial squad and will be important on the flat stages.

Countrymen Magnus Cort Nielsen and Michael Valgren are going to be vitally important to Fuglsang on stage nine as they are cobblestone specialists.
