Well, this is the stage we are waiting for. Expect carnage over these 22km of cobbles.

I will go straight into the favourites because anything can happen.

We look at Quick Step Floors. They will look to demolish the field tomorrow and they have 4 genuine contenders for the stage win.

Niki Terpstra $7.50/$3
Philippe Gilbert $10/$3.20
Yves Lampaert $21/$5
Bob Jungels $34/$9

All these riders will probably attack one after another to try and drop riders like Peter Sagan and if any of them get a gap, then with teams dwindled down and all about survival, they will stay away to the finish.

You also need to look at the classics specialists

Peter Sagan $3.30/$1.50 deserves favouritsm. Winner of this years Paris-Roubaix, he is going to be hard to drop even though he may be on Rafal Majka duty.

Greg Van Avermaet $10/$3.20 is an interesting one. Will he be allowed to go and chase glory or will be have to help Porte, or can he do both?

Two sprinters that could figure and have shown a bit on cobbles is Arnaud Demare $15/$3.80 and Andre Greipel ($26/$6.50). Demare is more suited and could do something and if a small group comes to the line and Greipel is there, then watch out.

Trek-Segafredo will be looking at this stage. Yes they need to look after Bauke Mollema, but if given the green light, Jasper Stuyven $21/$5 will be a big chance.

Michael Valgren $67/$16 will be on Jakob Fuglsang duty, but is another that can do well given the green light.

Edvald Boasson-Hagen $41/$11 cannot be underestimated either. Dimension Data will be eyeing this stage and Boasson-Hagen is their best chance.

Geraint Thomas $26/$6.50 won’t be waiting around for Froome so if he’s up there at the business end of the race, don’t rule out him going on a late attack to take victory. Not sure it will happen as he will be happy enough to gain time on his rivals.

Finally we look at some outsiders

Guillaume Van Keirsbulck $101/$26, Sep Vanmarcke $81/21 (although he might be on Rigoberto Uran duty) and Damien Gaudin $67/$16 can all figure here.

One of the Quick-Step riders takes this solo with Peter Sagan taking second from the bunch.

  1. Philippe Gilbert
  2. Peter Sagan
  3. Edvald Boasson-Hagen
